Women’s Health After 35: Why Looking at the Whole Body Matters

Women’s Health Check: Six key areas to watch after 35 — all connected.

Most women I speak with care deeply about their health. We show up for check-ups, track our cycles, ask questions. But there’s a pattern I keep seeing in conventional care: doctors often treat one symptom, one lab result, one system — in isolation.

What gets lost? The bigger picture.

Why “One Symptom, One Pill” Isn’t Enough

Come in with fatigue, mood swings, or irregular cycles and you’re likely to walk out with:

  • Thyroid meds

  • Birth control to “regulate hormones”

  • A sleep aid

Yes, these might take the edge off. But they rarely get to the root of the imbalance. Our bodies don’t work in silos — every system talks to every other.

Hormones Work Together — Not Alone

Think of hormones like musicians in an orchestra. If one plays out of tune, the whole performance suffers:

  • Thyroid: Drives energy and metabolism

  • Sex hormones: Influence mood, skin, fertility, bone health

  • Stress hormones: Like cortisol, can drown everything else out

  • Liver: Clears out old hormones, making room for balance

  • Gut: Absorbs nutrients needed for hormone production

  • Sleep: Restores the entire system

Focusing on just one hormone? That’s like trying to fix a symphony by tuning a single violin.

The Holistic & Aromatherapy Perspective

Instead of zooming in on one issue, a holistic approach looks at how everything connects. Aromatherapy is one gentle tool in this broader view:

  • Lavender or clary sage: Ease stress

  • Citrus oils: Uplift mood, support liver detox

  • Geranium: Helps balance the female cycle

This isn’t about ditching your doctor. It’s about expanding your toolkit — supporting the whole woman, not just a symptom.

Thriving After 35: Not Just “Getting By”

Hormonal shifts are natural after 35. That doesn’t mean you’re destined for burnout, brain fog, or poor sleep.

When we look at the full picture — thyroid, adrenals, liver, digestion, sleep, lifestyle — we can support balance, vitality, and ease through the years ahead.

Your health is more than one symptom.

After 35, connection is everything — between your body systems, your lifestyle, and your choices. The more we honor the whole, the better we feel in every part.
